Synopsis

Richard Baker introduces the BBC's third performance of the season at the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts, featuring mezzo-soprano Janet Baker and tenor Hermann Winkler as soloists in Mahler's symphonic song-cycle, *Das Lied von der Erde* (The Song of the Earth). The BBC Symphony Orchestra is conducted by Rodney Friend, with Sir John Pritchard leading the orchestra.
