Synopsis

Richard Baker introduces the performance, the first of this year's BBC1 broadcasts from the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, London. John Lill performs Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Günther Herbig. Beethoven composed his Op. 37 in 1800, when he was twenty-nine years old. The concerto's three movements are Allegro con brio, Largo, and Rondo: Allegro.
