Synopsis

The program featured Béla Bartók's Concerto for Two Pianos, Percussion, and Orchestra, with John Chimes and James Holland on percussion. Following this was a selection from Johann Strauss, Homage to the Russian People, concluding with the lively Polka: "Nothing." A further arrangement by Dmitri Shostakovich presented Johann Strauss's "Excursion Train" Polka. The evening concluded with Vincent Youmans's "Tea for Two" (Tahiti Trot), also arranged by Shostakovich.
