Synopsis

Tonight's first half of the Henry Wood Promenade Concert from the Royal Albert Hall in London will be broadcast in stereo, a joint effort by BBC2 and Radio 3. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Barry Griffinis, is conducted by their newly appointed principal conductor, Walter Weller. John Lill will perform the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 2, a welcome departure from the more frequently performed No. 1.
