Synopsis

The eighty-fourth season of the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts commences with Verdi's powerful Requiem. Crafted during the composer's most fertile period, the work translates the ancient Latin text into magnificent melodies for the four soloists and breathtaking choral climaxes. Tonight’s concert will be broadcast live in stereo from the Royal Albert Hall, with BBC2 and Radio 3.
