Synopsis

Humphrey Burton reports from one of the concerts that inaugurated this year's Jubilee season at the Henry Wood Proms, featuring British music. The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra is led by ALAN TRAVERSE, with Sir Charles Groves conducting. Featured soloist is Ralph Kirshbaum (cello). The program began with Malcolm Arnold's spirited Overture: Beckus the Dandipratt, followed by Delius's Fantasy: In a Summer Garden. Ralph Kirshbaum, a young musician from Texas, performs Elgar's b
