Synopsis

The opening of a series of six performances at the Royal Albert Hall for the 1973 Henry Wood Promenade Concerts. Iona Brown performs Walton's Violin Concerto in B minor, accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, with Erich Gruenberg as concertmaster. The orchestra is conducted by James Loughran. The concert program commences with Elgar's Cockaigne Overture, introduced by Richard Baker. (This performance was given on July 21st.) (Colour)
