Synopsis

This recording is the fifth installment from a six-part series broadcast during the 1971 Henry Wood Promenade Concerts. Alfred Brendel performs Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 17 in G major, K. 453, accompanied by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Colin Davis. The program opens with Brahms' Tragic Overture, introduced by Richard Baker.
