Synopsis

This recording is the first of two taken from the 1970 season of the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts at the Royal Albert Hall. Featuring Peter Katin on piano, alongside the London Philharmonic Orchestra, with Rodney Friend as leader and conducted by John Pritchard. The program includes Glinka's Overture to Ruslan and Ludmilla, followed by Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor. The performance was introduced by Antony Hopkins.
