Synopsis

Television cameras gather at the Royal Albert Hall in London for the opening concert of the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts. The BBC Symphony Orchestra, led by Paul Beard and conducted by Sir Malcolm Sargent, presents a program featuring soloists Gloria Lane (mezzo-soprano) and Moiseiwitsch (piano). The concert includes Wagner's overture to *The Mastersingers of Nuremberg*, Saint-Saëns' aria "Softly Awakes my Heart" from *Samson and Delilah*, and Rachmaninov's Rhapsody on a Theme of Pagani
