Synopsis

Television cameras capture the opening concert at the Royal Albert Hall, London. Featuring the BBC Symphony Orchestra, led by Paul Beard and conducted by Sir Malcolm Sargent, the program includes Denis Matthews on piano. The concert will feature Elgar's overture to Cockaigne, followed by Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major, K.488. Alvar Lidell will introduce the concerto. The broadcast, presented by Antony Craxton, begins at 7:30 PM.
