The seventh – and concluding – chapter of Australian Idol arrived on screens August 9th, 2009, setting out to crown a new homegrown music star following Wes Carr’s victory the year before. The season kicked off with some behind-the-scenes changes; radio personality Kyle Sandilands stepped down as judge, making way for Sony Music executive Jay Dee Springbett. Notably, this marked the first time in the show's history that all of the finalists were teenagers, eighteen and under, bringing a fresh wave of youthful talent to the competition. After a compelling journey, Stan Walker ultimately claimed the title on November 22nd, 2009.
