Synopsis

Kidney beans, softened by an overnight soak, are boiled and kept warm. Separately, onion and carrot are sautéed until tender, then combined with garlic and tomato paste. The cooked kidney beans are added to the pan, along with a splash of hot water and a cube of sugar, and simmered until heated through.
