Mr. Grace, still quite young, proposed that his employees establish a social club—a prospect made somewhat less appealing by its location: a gloomy cellar desperately requiring improvement. Nevertheless, the staff embraced the task, tackling the painting and wallpapering with considerable enthusiasm.
