There’s a pivotal moment of significant advancement. Concerning the creative process, it seems that some level of adherence to requirements or benchmarks is necessary at various stages of production. We could broadly define the resulting quality as being determined by the least impressive element within the entire project. *Arcane* avoids tired tropes, even though universal themes like injustice, prejudice, desire, affection, and animosity—being inherent aspects of human existence—sometimes appear to be familiar or predictable, or reflect a lack of originality. There’s absolutely nothing commonplace about *Arcane*. Everything is exceptional, moving, elevating animated storytelling by blending science fiction and fantasy, much like life itself. Similar to how films such as *The Matrix* or *Inception* were groundbreaking, *Alita: Battle Angel* demonstrated animation's potential—perhaps a boundary that’s pushing forward the whole of human culture, from traditional 2D animation to virtual and augmented reality. This represents a shift in what is considered “real” within entertainment and creative fields. Those who fail to recognize or appreciate the impact are simply missing something fundamental. *Arcane*, like many productions originating from or destined for the gaming world, is a genuine work of art. It’s not primarily about the script—which is well-written—or the music or character animation; rather, it's about the emotional response it evokes in viewers, that sense of limitless awe that transforms its components into something entirely new, once referred to as the seventh art form. Perhaps it deserves a higher classification altogether. Contributors are emerging from Japan, the United States, Europe, China, Canada, and Korea—a fresh force has arrived. Time will be needed to fully grasp how creative human experience is being transformed. My congratulations. It was an excellent vintage, and even its container felt uniquely designed, like something from Klein. This kind of event happens rarely, perhaps every few years or a decade? I certainly hope there will be more—and soon. Don't try to replicate it.
