The series from Disney Channel is a coming-of-age comedy-drama that attempts to fill the gap left by 'Girls Meets World'. It nearly succeeds. While twelve episodes per season feels too brief for a children's show, even with twenty-minute installments, it offered a promising start. The program isn’t just funny; it also tackles several uplifting themes. A notable strength is that Andi, the main character, doesn’t dominate everything—instead, each character gets their moment to shine. For example, when Andi deals with her personal problems, her friends handle school activities independently, which builds a foundation for future storylines. A surprising element is Cyrus's possible crush on Jonah, potentially hinting at a gay storyline, though it seems unlikely Disney would fully explore that avenue. This season largely centers around Andi adjusting to a significant secret from her past surfacing after thirteen years. She’s getting accustomed to the situation but isn’t quite comfortable yet. The dynamics between Andi, her mother, and grandparents evoke memories of 'Gilmore Girls', suggesting that with two more successful seasons, it could evolve into Disney's version of that show. I have found the series enjoyable so far; every episode has been good or decent, though none were disappointing. A few stood out as particularly awesome and inspiring. However, everything feels like a carefully crafted story rather than an accurate portrayal of real life. The three friends are all memorable and distinct in their interests. Still, Andi doesn't quite feel like the central figure, aside from her artistic talents. The acting is impressive across the board, including the adult cast, especially Lilan Bowden as Bex, who seems poised to be a supportive presence for Andi. I’d like to see more of Buffy’s athleticism and for Cyrus to find his place as a young man. It's also important to address the unresolved issues between Andi and her father. What it really needs now is an engaging theme song. I am hoping that the next season will be filled with humorous and inspiring episodes, along with potential new cast members, especially if the show transitions into high school—perhaps even a rivalry akin to what’s seen in 'Mean Girls'. It's a worthwhile program for children and adults alike. Definitely give it a try. 8/10
