The creators of Cosmos aimed to instruct and inform their audience; however, Ancient Apocalypse seems designed to provoke reactions and create excitement. The series uses an excessive number of low-quality sound effects—sudden noises, booming bass—to heighten the drama, which becomes quite irritating. It's unfortunate because the topics explored are genuinely fascinating and possess enough substance to stand on their own merit throughout the show. I encountered Graham Hancock during a conversation on the Joe Rogan podcast, and he consistently presented himself with gravitas; it’s disappointing that he had to present this project in such a manner and on Netflix. Even the name feels like—and is!—designed to attract attention. If you can disregard all of these elements, there's a worthwhile historical exploration to be found.
