Synopsis

For many years, the dwindling wilderness faced relentless pressure from industry and tourism, lacking any federal safeguard. Then, three men devoted their lives to forging a solution. Robert Marshall, Aldo Leopold, the visionary who shaped the modern environmental consciousness, and Howard Zahniser labored for decades to establish a lasting system of federally protected wilderness. Their persistence culminated in the Wilderness Act, enacted in 1964.
