Synopsis

In the late 1920s, Eugene Dennis sought refuge in Moscow, escaping potential indictment and imprisonment stemming from his activities with the American Communist Party; his wife, Peggy, and their eighteen-month-old son soon joined him. By 1935, a reassignment back to America brought them, but with the painful stipulation that they leave their five-year-old son behind, a child who spoke only Russian. A second son, born in the United States, offers a candid and poignant exploration of his parents
