Synopsis

In 1911, at the age of fourteen, Frank Popiolek joined the ranks of the two million Polish immigrants who crossed the Atlantic. He found his home in Chicago, establishing himself as a barber while nurturing within his family an affection for the customs of their homeland and a deep sense of Polish identity. This is a nostalgic and often humorous exploration of the coexistence of old-world traditions and modern life in Chicago.
