The history of Mexican Americans – the miners, as they were known – and their struggles for fair labor, beginning with the first strike in 1903, profoundly shaped the development of Arizona. It wasn't until 1946 that the discriminatory practice of paying white miners more than their Mexican counterparts was finally dismantled. This film chronicles the ascent and decline of three communities – Superior, Clifton-Morenci, and Sonora – all of whose lives were inextricably linked to the copper mines
