Synopsis

In March of 1621, in the region that now comprises southeastern Massachusetts, Massasoit, the foremost sachem of the Wampanoag, convened to negotiate with a gaunt band of English colonists. These pale-skinned strangers, weakened by hunger, grime, and illness, were barely surviving and desperately required assistance from the native people.
