Synopsis

Kit Carson, a mountain man unable to read or write, possessed fluency in Spanish and five Native American tongues. He twice took Native American women as wives, yet waged a relentless war against the Navajo. While the American West remained largely unknown, Carson conquered it, his skill and knowledge earning him both renown and demand. Ultimately, by facilitating a westward migration that irrevocably altered the region, he unknowingly became an instrument in the demise of the world he held dear
