Synopsis

He possessed a striking appearance: affluent, handsome, with light skin and blond hair – features that allowed him to pass as white. Yet, his pronouncements on economics and employment would establish him as one of the most compelling black leaders of the 20th century. For twenty-five years, he served as a U.S. Representative, championing social legislation. However, a growing appetite for wealth and a penchant for a lavish lifestyle ultimately led to his political downfall.
