Synopsis

"The Fight" revisits the June 1938 heavyweight championship match between Joe Louis and Max Schmeling of Germany, examining the profound political and social implications of the event. As narrator Courtney B. Vance observes, the bout "was going to pit whole nations and whole ideologies against each other."
