In the midst of World War II, over a thousand women volunteered to fly for the United States military. Drawn from diverse backgrounds – wives, mothers, actresses, and debutantes – they joined the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPS), undertaking crucial tasks such as test-piloting aircraft, transporting planes across the country, and accumulating sixty million miles in flight.
