Synopsis

He was captivated by Basil, a cowhand employed by a nearby farmer. Basil’s past was a rich tapestry: a stint in the circus, years as a teacher, a surprising depth of knowledge in art, and an uncanny ability to discern quality wine. James found himself increasingly intrigued. But his fascination curdled into concern when he discovered Basil wasn't administering the necessary treatment to the farmer's ailing calves. The animals showed no signs of recovery.
