Returned to the familiar world, Arisu and Usagi carried no recollection of their time in Borderland. It was there they encountered Ryuji, a professor consumed by the study of near-death experiences.

The opening match takes place at a sacred shrine. There, Arisu and the other competitors must rapidly solve mathematical problems, or face imminent destruction.

As Rei’s scheme began to fall apart, Arisu made a desperate gamble to ensure his team’s survival. Meanwhile, on a different plane, Usagi and Ryuji were subjected to a relentless onslaught of laser fire.

As time dwindled and disaster loomed, Usagi’s companions were forced to leap between trains for survival. For Arisu’s team, a perilous game of Kick the Can unfolded.

Following his digital counterpart, Arisu navigated a simulated Shibuya of tomorrow, pausing at a scene of unexpected warmth – and there, before him, stood Usagi, undeniably real.

A harrowing vision of what is to come weighs heavily on Arisu, crushing him beneath the burden of saving them all. Can he, along with Usagi and the others, reach the exit?
