Synopsis

As the final days of autumn rushed by, giving way to the impending arrival of winter, the Kilchers busied themselves preparing the hunter’s cabin and the cattleman's dwelling, safeguarding the beehives against the cold, organizing the root cellar stores, bottling the ruby-red raspberry mead, and carving out a new field with the aid of an excavator and a barge.
