"Aladdin and the King of Thieves," which came before the live-action movie, is the third entry in the Aladdin series. Even though I love Aladdin and Jasmine, this animated film doesn’t measure up and actually lessens what makes the franchise so good. The plot does bring Aladdin's father into the picture, which adds something new to the story, but the animation isn’t great. The visuals seem cheap; they look like something you’d see on the Disney Channel rather than in a movie theater. However, having Robin Williams back as the genie is definitely a positive thing. Even with its problems, I'm glad this part of Aladdin's story exists and that we get to see what happens next for these characters. Bringing in Aladdin's father and developing other bad guys helps make the overall story better. While I really like the Aladdin story and seeing it grow, from a movie-watching point of view, this one isn’t as strong. Moving on to the Aladdin television series, it's pretty amazing that people got to keep exploring these characters after the original films ended. The show gave us chances to see different stories and adventures, letting us get to know the characters even better. As someone who really likes the animated series—which itself came from a video game—I appreciate everything about the Aladdin franchise. The TV series especially means a lot to me because it let me keep following these characters and their stories. Aladdin is still one of my favorite characters, and the series will always be important to me.
