I wanted to share some first thoughts rather than a full review, since this series is already several seasons in. We opted to check out the premiere of season 4 because it’s themed around Christmas—a way to see if we'd want to go back and watch from the beginning, and also another holiday offering alongside others I planned to view. The program didn’t really capture our interest; it wasn’t poorly made, just unremarkable. For viewers familiar with the previous three seasons, this probably would have seemed like standard fare. Personally, I found it hard to stay engaged. I did keep watching, in part because Matthew Horne from Gavin and Stacey is involved. There were some minor issues that felt strange, for instance, how readily a character confessed wrongdoing, but mostly the show reminded me of Midsomer Murders.
