Synopsis

The impending Christmas gathering cast a subtle tension over Jim and Cheryl. They longed for their mother’s visit, yet harbored a quiet hope she would consider a hotel stay. The thought of broaching the subject without causing offense to Maggie, Cheryl's mother, weighed heavily on them. Jim tentatively suggested the hotel option, and Maggie, in a surprising gesture, gifted Dana, another young woman present, her grandmother’s pearl necklace. Cheryl was deeply hurt by this unexpected kindness.
