Absolutely Fabulous burst onto BBC Two in 1992 with a chaotic six-episode run, introducing the world to PR guru Edina Monsoon – or ‘Eddie,’ as her best friend and magazine editor Patsy Stone affectionately calls her. This deliciously dysfunctional sitcom, created and starring Jennifer Saunders as Edina, throws us headfirst into a whirlwind of champagne, crisis management, and questionable decisions. Edina, navigating life as a twice-divorced mother, finds herself constantly footing the bill for Patsy’s lavish lifestyle, essentially providing a permanent luxury apartment for her best friend. Her family adds to the delightful mayhem: Serge, her son who fled years ago to escape her clutches, and Saffron – or ‘Saffy’ – her teenage daughter, who provides a much-needed grounding force (and relies on Edina in return). Rounding out the eccentric cast are Edina's well-meaning but slightly dotty mother, and Bubble, her endearingly clueless assistant, ensuring that every moment is gloriously, hilariously absurd.
