Synopsis

Resentful at being denied promotion to commander—the position instead going to the younger, less seasoned Sam Power—Langton leads the inquiry into the death of Amanda Delaney, a volatile and widely known actress who appeared poised to release memoirs filled with scandalous revelations. Langton and Travis find themselves intrigued by a crucifix discovered near the body, an item unrelated to the victim herself.
