Synopsis

Jack made a conscious effort to avoid the pervasive school spirit at Whitlock. It was Durbin’s birthday, and Spirit Week was in full swing, a whirlwind of enthusiasm he found thoroughly distasteful. Everyone else seemed swept up in the fervor, eager for the upcoming football game against their rivals at Prairie High. Jack, however, preferred to remain detached from the festivities.
