_ANT Farm_ has to be among the strangest and most uncomfortable sitcoms I’ve come across. I used to enjoy this series when I was younger, but watching it again now just leaves me feeling awkward. There's a chance some people might find something worthwhile here, but the execution is simply misguided. The humor feels so exaggerated and doesn't quite fit, making _Wizard of Waverly Place_ seem sophisticated in comparison. Furthermore, the characters are overly silly, even for who this show was intended for. Many of them come across as flat or stereotypical, relying on familiar high school clichés. Paisley, for instance, seems to lack any backbone and just does foolish things; Skidmore is a typical principal who dislikes kids; Gibson acts like an immature child despite being an adult; Angus is the predictable overweight kid obsessed with food who constantly bothers Olive and doesn’t accept rejection; and Lexi Reed makes others appear exceptionally kind. The plots often feel pointless, lacking satisfying resolutions, frequently resorting to tired tropes about liars being exposed over and over again. It's a common issue with children's shows – why do they so often simplify their dialogue and jokes? Kids are more perceptive than adults realize and can appreciate content that doesn’t treat them like babies. The songs performed by China Anne McClain were a definite highlight, but everything else is difficult to endure. Perhaps it would have been better as an animated series rather than live-action, but that's just my thought. Ultimately, _ANT Farm_ fails because it’s too odd for children, too immature for adults, and generally too silly for today’s viewers.
