Synopsis

Whitley arranged an exhibition showcasing the work of Hillman students. Mr. Gaines showed her some sketches by Novian Winters, a young man who sometimes bartered artwork for food when funds were low. Deeply impressed, she found it difficult to persuade him to include his pieces in the show. The gallery owner insisted Whitley remove Novian’s painting, deeming it sacrilegious. Reluctantly, she complied, unwilling to risk jeopardizing the entire exhibition and disappointing the other artists. Jalee
