Synopsis

Whitley secured a position as an assistant art buyer at E.H. Wright Industries, and was sent to observe an auction in Washington, D.C. When her supervisor briefly excused herself to answer a call, Whitley disregarded instructions and placed a bid on a painting by a young artist showing considerable promise. She braced for the consequences, fearing she’d jeopardized her employment, but the acquisition proved to be a remarkably astute investment. While her boss questioned the methods employed, she
