I’m updating my thoughts on this series. My initial assessment concluded with the statement "But I won't fault it for quality, what it does it does well. It's just what it does has been done a thousand times before," and that was how I felt when I first encountered it—it was competently made, but familiar in its overall premise. I still maintain that sentiment, as it resembles many other shows with similar underlying ideas. However, my perspective is shifting. The characters have evolved beyond the predictable NCIS or Law and Order style where dialogue could be easily swapped between programs without a viewer noticing. This consistency allows for the characters to genuinely feel like people. The storylines are also getting increasingly over-the-top and reminiscent of soap operas—in a positive way. It's transitioned into pure entertainment, moving past the feeling of having experienced it all before and becoming an enjoyable show with characters I’m now invested in; my wife can continue to have me watch it without complaint. I am preserving my original review as a demonstration of how opinions can change, and I’m revising this one. The early seasons were initially quite unremarkable—a familiar formula—but they've developed into something genuinely fun and worth watching. It’s surprising that something so reminiscent of previous shows could become so appealing. My fiance enjoys it; I’ve seen similar programs before. There isn't anything inherently wrong with it. The stories are well-crafted, the acting is good, and it can hold your attention. However, I recall watching ER in the nineties, Chicago Fire, Hill Street Blues, Law and Order, CHIPS, Baywatch—the list goes on. My problem was that it felt like just another drama among many others I’ve seen over time, making it difficult to become truly engaged with.
