Synopsis

Carlo’s ascent in the eyes of Italian voters faltered sharply following an ill-advised jest concerning the celebrated footballer Francesco Totti. His political opponents seized upon the incident with a calculated and unkindness, and adding to his distress, Annalisa informed him of her desire to reconcile with her husband. Only the return of his daughter Maddalena from London offers any prospect of easing his troubled spirit.
