Synopsis

To safeguard gods and demons alike, Mahadev consumed the venom. But Parvati, with a hand around his neck, stayed his hand, preventing the poison from taking hold. In recognition of this selfless act, Lord Brahma bestowed upon Mahadev the name Neelkanth.
