Synopsis

As Tarakasur's forces grew bolder, they began to prey upon ordinary people and holy men alike. The deities turned to Lord Vishnu, who then asked them to choose: the demise of Tarakasur or a cessation of Lord Shiva’s grief. With the gods' agreement, Lord Vishnu caused Sati's body to fall to earth, splintering into numerous pieces.
