Synopsis

Disguised as the sage Narad, Tarakasura enticed Sati to journey to her father’s sacrificial rite without her consort, Lord Shiva. Vijaya, too, swayed Sati to accept this course. But as Sati listened, she overheard the septadentate sage Bhrigu declare that the cosmos itself would face annihilation should Sati proceed to the yagna unaccompanied by Shiva. Fear seized her.
