Sati pledged three things to Lord Shiva: unwavering obedience, absolute truthfulness, and complete transparency. Sage Atharva presented his sacred texts to the Lord, who decreed they would be known from that day forward as the Atharva Veda. This decision provoked displeasure among the sons of Brahma.
