Synopsis

Lord Shiva recounted to his consort, Parvati, the boon bestowed upon Adi by Lord Brahma. The news struck Parvati with alarm. The sages, too, grew apprehensive, fearing that if Manasa were allowed to roam freely, she might reveal her true nature to the world. Their anxieties proved well-founded; Manasa, losing control of her temper, manifested her true form.
