Synopsis

The goddess Lakshmi felt a disquieting unease at Ravana’s fascination with Vedvati. He pleaded with her to become his devotee, but she steadfastly refused, choosing instead to offer her life in sacrifice. Lord Shiva entreated her to reconsider, yet she persisted in her resolve. Shiva then resolved to slay Ravana, but Lord Vishnu stayed his hand, revealing the manner of the demon’s eventual demise.
