Synopsis

At Vindolanda, amidst the turmoil of a British rebellion, Alice uncovers remarkably preserved writing tablets, swords, and everyday objects left behind by the Romans. On the Scottish island of Iona, vestiges of a monastery and pilgrimage site, long vanished from sight, reveal a history rooted in the legendary Saint Columba, a place once likened to Jerusalem. Further east in Scotland, a hoard of weapons belonging to a powerful warrior of the Bronze Age is brought to light.
