Synopsis

The family found themselves in a difficult but ultimately illuminating conversation after Junebug was subjected to a racial slur by one of his friends. The discussion broadened to encompass the history and weight of that word, and others like it. Meanwhile, Janelle was assigned a partner for a debate project – someone who navigated gender in a way that didn't conform to traditional expectations.
