The humor feels safe; there’s nothing daring about it. It seems to rely on just two elements: first, that Trump is bad, and second, a reminder of something that happened. Neither approach really connects with me. I'm fine with jokes targeting Trump, but they need a payoff. Frequently, the punchline is missing entirely. Simply disliking him isn’t inherently funny. There needs to be exaggeration, satire, or some form of mockery—even if it’s harsh—as long as it doesn't just feel like someone expressing their views. Stating an opinion isn't a joke. The same problem exists with jokes that prompt you to recall something. You find yourself waiting for them to deliver the funny part, going along with it, thinking "Yes, I remember that, what’s the point?" only to realize there *is* no punchline; that was it. It's not a joke; it’s just an instruction to remember something. If they included a payoff—if they said something humorous about what they were prompting me to recall—it might be amusing, but they don't. The jokes are essentially "this happened, laugh at it," and that isn't funny. It needs more. Like with the Trump comments, an opinion isn’t comedic unless there’s a follow-up. Similarly, a memory on its own isn’t humorous; both require something additional.
