Kimble finds himself the caretaker of a sprawling Connecticut ranch, property of newspaper heiress Ann Guthrie, who resides there with her husband Harlan and sister Ruth. Ann and Ruth's father had founded the Westborne Clarion, the very newspaper Harlan now manages. Though Ann is the sole beneficiary of her father’s estate, she believes Ruth deserves a share.
